Kendra Bush (Palmyra, NY/Newark) and freshman pole vaulter
Samantha Kaplan (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) of the RIT women's track and field team, garnered Liberty League weekly honors on Monday, for the week ending Feb. 5, 2016. Bush was named the Liberty League Field Athlete of the Week and Kaplan earned Rookie of the Week honors. Both were honored for the third time in 2016-17.
Bush earned the win in the shot put with a throw of 12.68 meters at the Tiger Invitational hosted by RIT at the Gordon Field House on Friday evening. She was also fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 13.40 meters. She has the 40th best shot put throw in Division III this season. It is Bush's third weekly honor of 2016-17 and eighth of her collegiate career.
Kaplan earned Liberty League Rookie of the Week honors for the third straight week Kaplan after winning the pole vault with a top vault of 3.22 meters at RIT's Tiger Invitational Friday evening. She has the top pole vault among all Liberty League student-athletes this season at 3.35 meters.
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, hosting the Liberty League Indoor Track and Field Championship from the Gordon Field House at 11 a.m.
