BROCKPORT, NY – The RIT men's track and field team placed third out of six teams at the Brockport Golden Eagle Multi & Invitational Meet on Saturday. The Tigers recorded 76 team points, while host Brockport won with 145.5 points.
Senior
Austin White (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) was RIT's lone winner on the day, taking the pole vault with a leap of 4.70 meters. The vault is tied with teammate
Ethan Maguire (Penfield, NY/Penfield) for the 14th best in Division III this season.
Sprinters
Myles Garner (Gurnee, IL/Warren Township) and
Daniel Giuliano (Ledgewood, NJ/Roxbury) were third and fourth, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles. Garner recorded a time of 8.81 seconds, while Guiliano finished in 8.90 seconds. RIT enjoyed an excellent showing in the 60-meter dash, as five sprinters placed in the top eight.
Matthew Lienhard (Allentown, PA/Allentown Catholic) was second in a time of 7.20 seconds, while
Alaraba Sodiq Oladipo (Lagos, Nigeria/DoEstdot International) (7.26 seconds),
Kyle Kaniecki (Burton, OH/West Geauga) (7.29), and
Jon Ennin (Sunnyvale, TX/Sunnyvale) (7.30) were fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively, and
Jason Freeman (Chester, NY/Chester Academy) (7.39) was eighth.
Rob Dalheim (Rochester, NY/Brockport) was second in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:06.98, while
Matthew Meehan (West Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) placed fifth in 1:08.89. RIT had three runners place in the 200-meters. Callejo was fifth in a time of 23.47 seconds, while
Curtis Geiger (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) was three one-hundredths of a second behind in sixth and Giuliano was seventh (23.72 seconds).
The 4 x 400-meter relay team of
Derek Swarthout (Macedon, NY/Penfield),
Eric Hambleton (Weare, NH/Bishop Brady), Callejo, and Kaniecki were third in a time of 3:31.35.
Nick Ng (Wayland, MA/Wayland) earned a fifth place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 13.20 meters.
Jack Smith (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) recorded a seventh place finish in the pole vault (4.35 meters), while
Kent Kellar (Wells, ME/Wells) (12.65 meters) and
Zach Darling (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) (12.55 meters) were eighth and ninth in the shot put.
RIT is home next weekend, as they host the Tiger Invitational on Friday, Feb. 3 at 4 p.m. from the Gordon Field House.
