ROCHESTER, NY – Former RIT men's hockey standouts, 2015-16 captain Josh Mitchell (Osoyoos, British Columbia/Alberni Valley Bulldogs) and 2014-15 assistant captain Brad McGowan will team up professionally with the Hamburg Crocodiles of Oberliga in Hamburg, Germany for the 2016-17 season.

Mitchell, who graduated with a degree in environmental science in May, led the Tigers in scoring with 36 points on six goals and 30 assists in 39 games in 2015-16. In four seasons at the university, Mitchell finished his career as the all-time leader in games played with 154. He recorded 31 career goals and 90 assists for 121 points. Mitchell's 90 assists are third most all-time at RIT in the Division I era, while his 121 points are fifth. He was a 2014-15 All-Atlantic Hockey second team selection and 2015-16 third team pick. In addition, Mitchell was named to the 2015 NCAA Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team.

"I'm excited for Josh (MItchell) signing professionally in Germany," said RIT men's hockey head coach Wayne Wilson. "He has made a big impact on our program and was a key person in our last two championships." He will be joining another great former Tiger in Brad (McGowan), who was instrumental in getting us back to where we want to be as a program in 2014-15."

McGowan, who played the 2015-16 season with the Hannover Indians in Oberliga, appeared in 150 career games with the Tigers from 2011-15, and is tied for seventh at the university in the Division I era with 110 points on 46 goals and 64 assists. In 2014-15, McGowan, who earned a degree in business management, enjoyed an excellent senior season at RIT with 46 points on 23 goals and 23 assists to earn All-Atlantic Hockey third team honors. He is the only RIT player in the Division I era to have scored four goals in a game.

Mitchell and McGowan, along with former Tiger Matt Garbowsky, formed one of the most prolific lines in all of college hockey during the 2014-15 season, helping RIT win the Atlantic Hockey Championship and advance to the NCAA Midwest Regional final. In 2015-16, Mitchell helped lead the Tigers to their second straight Atlantic Hockey title and berth in the NCAA East Regional.

It's exciting to see two great former Tigers playing professionally together," said Wilson. "Both should have continued success overseas."
