BELFAST, Northern Ireland – The RIT Men's Hockey team fell, 4-0, to Miami (Ohio) in the first round of the 2025 Friendship Four in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Friday.
The RedHawks scored less than three minutes into the contest and later tallied a power play goal for a 2-0 first-period lead, before adding a pair of empty-net goals in the closing minutes to seal the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miami opened the scoring at 2:38 after Ethan Hay corralled a rebound in the low slot and tipped a pass back to Bradley Walker in the right faceoff circle for a wrist shot over Tiger sophomore goaltender Jakub Krbecek, far post.
- The Hawks made it a 2-0 game following a Tiger slashing penalty, cycling a puck around to Ilia Morozov at the right faceoff dot for a one-timer inside the near post at 14:27.
- The game remained scoreless until Miami tacked on empty-net goals at 16:56 and 18:42 while completing the shutout.
GAME NOTES
- RIT killed four of five penalties while finishing 0-for-3 with the extra man.
- Krbecek finished with 27 saves, including 11 in both the first and second periods, as the RedHawks out-shot the Tigers, 31-23.
- RIT was shutout for the first time since a 1-0 setback to Sacred Heart in the season-opener (Oct. 10).
- Friday was the first-ever meeting between RIT and Miami (Ohio).
- The only NCAA intercollegiate ice hockey tournament to take place outside of the United States, The Friendship Four men's tournament has been played six times since the inaugural event in 2015. RIT and Sacred Heart are the first two Atlantic Hockey teams to play in the event.

RIT will look to snap a three-game slide in Saturday's Friendship 4 consolation game, scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. (10:00 a.m. EST) faceoff versus Sacred Heart. The Pioneers fell, 8-1, to Union earlier Friday afternoon.
