Women's swimming and diving wraps up regular season with big win over Nazareth

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's swimming and diving team (7-4) wrapped up the 2015-16 regular season with a convincing victory over Nazareth College (5-3), 174.5-123.5 at the Judson Pool on Saturday afternoon. Before the meet, RIT honored seniors Shannon Ryan (Round Rock, TX/Stony Point) and Natalie Snyder (Rockville, MD/Rockville).

RIT opened the day with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview), Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy), Genevieve Senecal (Westfield, MA/Westfield), and Katrina Mayer (Bristol, VT/Vergennes Union) won by just over three seconds in a time of 1:55.97.

Phillips also earned a win in the 100-yard backstroke over teammate Allison Crim (Manchester, MD/Manchester Valley) by just over two seconds in a time of 1:04.10. The duo were also 1-2 in the 200-yard backstroke, as Phillips won by nine seconds in a time of 2:14.69. Phillips was also second in the 100-fly in 1:03.48.

Adams and Mayer were first and second in the 100-yard breaststroke. Adams had a winning time of 1:09.06. Adams also won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:34.53. Sarah Evans (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) and Dayle

Senecal took the 200-yard butterfly by eight seconds in a time of 2:14.81 and took the 100-fly by three seconds in 1:00.39. She won her third individual race of the day, the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:17.00.

Snyder, who broke both diving records last weekend against Rochester, took the 1-meter event with a score of 267.05 and was second in the 3-meters in 224.15.

The Tigers ended the meet by winning the 400-yard freestyle relay, as Smith, Allison Moulton (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford), Evans, and Mayer were victorious by seven seconds in 3:52.31.

The Tigers are back in action with the UNYSCSA Championships, hosted by Ithaca College from Feb. 17-20. Morning action begins at 10 a.m. each day, while evening swimming and diving starts at 6 p.m.
