Baseball drops non-conference contest at St. John Fisher

PITTSFORD, NY – The RIT baseball team (16-7) dropped a non-conference road contest at St. John Fisher (15-16) at Dugan Yard on a cold, windy, Wednesday afternoon. RIT made five errors that led to four unearned runs in the loss.
 
The Cardinals jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two innings before Ben Terzini (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) hit a fielder's choice to drive in Dom Scialabba (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick), who reached on a hit by pitch to make it 2-1 in the third inning. Fisher would quickly score two runs in both the bottom of the third and fourth innings to take a 6-1 lead. Will Gorman (Nassau, NY/Columbia) would double home Skip Flanagan (Framingham, MA/Bishop Feehan) in the sixth inning to cut the Fisher lead to 6-2. The Cardinals would put the game away with three runs in the eighth.
 
Gorman drove in his team-high 30th run of the season in the loss, while CJ Bolorin (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta), Taylor Hogan (Rochester, NY/Brighton), and Zach Zabel (Clarence, NY/Clarence) singled. Flanagan and Brian Battaglia (Sliver Spring, MD/James Hubert Blake) walked twice. Flanagan now has 25 walks on the season.
 
Mike Roman drove in a pair of runs for the Cardinals, while Scott Eisenmenger was 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and run batted in.
 
Josh Amann earned the win on the mound for the Cardinals, allowing four hits and two runs, while striking out five in six innings. Kevin Berge and Ryan Smith combined to throw three hitless innings in relief.
 
Brian Reed (Rochester, NY/Penfield) made the start for the Tigers and lasted three innings, allowing four hits and four runs, two earned, while striking out a batter, taking the loss. David Nitsch (Penfield, NY/Penfield) went four innings in relief, allowing two hits and two runs, while Kyle Povlock (Fairport, NY/Fairport) gave up one earned run in the eighth inning.
 
St. John Fisher leads the all-time series between the two schools, 39-29. RIT defeated the Cardinals by a score of 10-3 on March 16 at Houghton College.
 
The Tigers are right back in action on Thursday afternoon with a non-conference contest against The College at Brockport at Tiger Stadium. First pitch will be at 4 p.m.
