Box Score WINTER HAVEN, FL - The RIT baseball team (5-1) opened play at the RussMatt Baseball Invitational on a warm, toasty Sunday afternoon in Florida, splitting a pair of games against Colby College (1-1) of Maine. The Mules won game one by a score of 13-5, while the Tigers won game two by the identical 13-5 score.

In the opener, Colby jumped out to a 10-0 lead after five innings before RIT got on the board in the fifth inning, as Skip Flanagan (Framingham, MA/Bishop Feehan) hit a sacrifice fly to score Zach Zabel (Clarence, NY/Clarence), who singled and stole a base. In the sixth, RIT tacked on four more runs, as Zabel singled home pinch runner Gage Blasi (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker), Barr singled in CJ Bolorin (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta), and Taylor Hogan (Rochester, NY/Brighton) doubled in a pair of runs.

Brandon Cohall (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) took the loss, allowing 10 hits and seven runs, four earned, in four innings of work.

RIT's bats came alive in game two, scoring 13 runs on 15 hits. RIT scored two times in the first inning, twice in the second, twice in the fourth, one in the fifth, four times in the sixth, and twice in the seventh inning.

Brian Battaglia (Sliver Spring, MD/James Hubert Blake) hit his first collegiate home run, a towering shot to left field in the second inning, driving in three runs in the game. Phil Sammon (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) slammed a three-run homer in the sixth inning, while While Gorman reached base three times, with three hits and two walks. Flanagan and Hogan had a pair of hits apiece, both also scoring three runs. Brett Kajganich (North Royalton, OH/Holy Name) and Bolorin also had a pair of hits.

On the mound, Rory Little (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was sharp, not allowing a run through the first five innings en route to the win.

RIT is right back in action on Monday with a doubleheader against St. Olaf College at 12 p.m. The games will take place at Lake Myrtle Park Field in Auburndale.
