Baseball to take on No. 5 Rowan in NCAA Regional opener Friday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team opens the NCAA Division III Tournament tomorrow against No. 5 Rowan in Brunswick, Maine on the campus of Bowdoin College.

The #4-seeded Tigers are scheduled to face the top-seeded Profs at 1 p.m. in Game 1 of the four-team double-elimination regional.

Friday's second game is the #2-seed Southern Maine taking on #3-seed Babson at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Winners of the Friday's game will meet on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. after the losers will play an elimination game at 11 a.m.

RIT TIGERS (24-13)
RIT is making an appearance in its' second NCAA Tournament after claiming the program's second Liberty League Tournament title this past Saturday to earn the conference's automatic bid. The Tigers' first NCAA appearance was the 2017 season when the team won a program-best 33 games.

The Tigers' pitching staff are led by sophomore starter Ryan Moran and graduate student reliever Dylan Joseph. The duo has combined for 13 wins and no losses as Moran holds a 1.93 ERA while Joseph has a 2.06 ERA. Both pitchers have yet to concede a home run and have allowed just 11 extra base hits.

At the plate, senior Trent Rapp is batting .386 and has scored a team-high 50 runs while senior Jackson Rusiecki has driven in a team-best 41 RBIs to go along with 32 runs.
 
ROWAN PROFS (32-5)
The No. 5-ranked Profs come into the national tournament having claimed the NJAC Tournament title for the first time since 2021 by sweeping William Patterson, 18-6 and 12-3.
Rowan is also making its' ninth-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and 32nd overall.

On the mound, sophomore Austin Kreyenhagen leads Rowan with a 2.98 ERA through a team-high 57.1 innings. The Souderton, Pa.-native holds a 6-1 record while holding opposing batters to just 19 runs, eight extra base hits, and no homeruns in addition to recording 36 strike outs.

Junior infielder Brayden Davis has hit a career-best 11 home runs this season, batting .403 over 36 games. Davis leads Rowan in RBIs (64) and runs (44) and is 12-for-12 in stolen base attempts.
