MEET RESULTS
ALFRED, NY - Genevieve Senecal (Westfield, MA/Westfield),
Sedera Zbranak (Austin, TX/Lake Travis) and
Natalie Snyder (Rockville, MD/Rockville) each picked up multiple victories as the RIT women's swimming and diving team picked up a dual victory over Alfred University (0-2), winning 146-85 on Saturday. The Tigers (2-1) won nine events on the day, finishing first and second in seven.
Senecal and Zbranak led RIT to an opening victory on the 200-yard medley relay, with teammates
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) and
Sarah Evans (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna), winning in a time of 1:55.66, just four seconds off the school record, and almost eight seconds ahead of the next team, RIT's
Allison Crim (Manchester, MD/Manchester Valley),
Shannon Ryan (Round Rock, TX/Stony Point), Katie Ward, and Allie Moulton, who finished in 2:03.44.
Senecal also picked up two individual victories, first in the 200-yard IM, finishing 1-2 with
Rachel Kobel (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen). Senecal won in a blistering 2:19.09, almost eight seconds ahead of Kobel's time of 2:27.81. She later dominated the 100-yard butterfly, finishing seven seconds of the next swimmer in a time of 1:01.54. Zbranak continued her terrific start to her collegiate career with another win in the 200-yard freestyle. Her winning time of 1:59.43 was just four hundredths of a second ahead of Alfred's Dylan Stainiszewski. She also nearly caught Stainiszewski in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing nine hundredths of a second behind with a time of 55.99.
Snyder had a field day on the diving boards, winning the 1-meter dive with a score of 248.77, ahead of
Amanda Drake (Endicott, NY/Maine Endwell), who finished second with 165.90. Snyder and Drake also finished 1-2 on the 3-meter dive event, as Snyder scored 229.35, to Drake's 179.55.
The Tigers won by a large margin in a number of events. Addy Maykish and
Grace Morales (South Riding, VA/Freedom) finished in the top two spots respectively in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Maykish won the event in 11:50.98, while Morales' time of 12:05.66 was over 25 seconds ahead of the next best swimmer. In the 500-yard freestyle, Tigers finished in the top three spots, as Kobel, Maykish, and Morales were able to dominate the event. Kobel won in 5:44.52, while Maykish finished in 5:46.10. Morales' time of 5:52.05 was nearly nine seconds ahead of the competition.
The 100-yard backstroke was another event that the Tigers finished 1-2 in, as
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) and
Allison Crim (Manchester, MD/Manchester Valley) edged out the competition. Phillips won the event in 1:04.99, with Crim right behind in 1:06.39.
RIT will next swim at the friendly confines of Judson Pool, as they take on Fredonia (0-3) on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
