OSWEGO, NY – The RIT women's swimming and diving team (1-1) used a strong team effort to earn its first dual meet win of the season, defeating SUNY Oswego (0-1) by a score of 155-87 on Wednesday evening. The Tigers won nine individual events and one relay.
Sedera Zbranak (Austin, TX/Lake Travis),
Genevieve Senecal (Westfield, MA/Westfield), and Addy Maykish won a pair of swimming events each, while
Natalie Snyder (Rockville, MD/Rockville) took both diving events.
Zbranak won the 200-yard freestyle by four seconds in a time of 2:01.40 and 100-yard backstroke by just over four seconds in 1:01.92. Senecal was victorious in the 100-yard freestyle in 56.24 seconds and took the 200-yard individual medley by just under seven seconds in 2:18.98.
Maykish was a winner in the 500-yard freestyle by just under seven seconds in 5:41.84 and took the 1,000-free by over 10 seconds in 11:40.75, as teammate
Grace Morales (South Riding, VA/Freedom) was second.
Snyder had a score of 204.55 to edge teammate
Amanda Drake (Endicott, NY/Maine Endwell) in the 3-meter diving, while easily winning the 1-meter event with a score of 260.60.
The team of Zbranak, Adams, Senecal, and
Sarah Evans (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) opened the evening by winning the 200-yard medley relay by nearly seven seconds in a time of 1:54.67.
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) won the 100-yard breaststroke over teammate Katie Mayer in a time of 1:11.90.
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) was second in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM. Mayer was also second in the 50-yard freestyle.
The Tigers return to action with a dual meet at Alfred University on Saturday that gets underway at 1 p.m.
