ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT (5-5) women's swimming and diving team suffered a 190-104 loss to the University of Rochester in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon at the Robert B. Goergen Athletic Center.
Brenna Woodling (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) picked up a pair of wins, while
Genevieve Senecal (Westfield, MA/Westfield) picked up a win and two second place finishes for the Tigers.
Woodling came home first in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:02.43. She came back later on to win the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:15.29. Senecal began her day with a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in a time of 2:19.12. She then placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.42), before taking home a win in the 200-individual medley (2:19.60).
Other top finishers included a second place finish by
Carol Anderson (Silver Spring, MD/Albert Einstein) in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 11:35.55.
Caitlin Foster (Bath, ME/Morse) was second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:36.21), and
Megan O'Connor (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts) was second in the 200-yard breastroke (2:45.94).
Maria Echavarria (Bogota, Colombia/Colegio Neuva Granda) was third in the 200-yard breastroke with a time of 2:47.22.
In relay action, the team of Woodling, O'Connor, Senecal and
Alex Timberlake (Churchville, NY/Churchville-Chili) placed second in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing in a time of 1:56.74. The team of
Amy Zuccaro (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury), Rachel Koby,
Colleen Manning (Farmingdale, NY/St. Anthony's) and
Jenny Genovese (Lincoln, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury) placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing in a time of 1:45.88.
The Tigers will will close out the regular season on Saturday, Jan. 31 when RIT faces Nazareth College at 1 p.m. on the road.
