OLEAN, NY - The RIT men's tennis team (2-5) picked up its second win of the 2013-14 season, rolling to a 7-2 victory over Alfred University on Saturday afternoon. RIT swept all three doubles matches and took four of the six singles contests.
The duo of
Chandler Daub (Kailua-Kona, HI/Kealakehe) and
Amos Baptiste (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood) rolled to an 8-4 win at first doubles, while
Kevin Layer (Clarence, NY/Clarence) and
Jake Stocker (Cassville, NY/Sauquoit Valley) won at second doubles by a score of 8-6. The third doubles duo of
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and
Frank McGinn III (Wappingers Falls, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) shut out their opponents at third doubles.
Sebastian Antelo Vera was a convincing 6-0, 6-2 winner at second singles for the Tigers, while Layer picked up a 6-4, 7-6 victory at third singles.
Andrew Reiley (Manorville, NY/Eastport South Manor) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at fifth singles, while
Jason Alexander (Austin, TX/Bowie) earned a 7-5, 6-1 vuctory at sixth singles.
RIT is right back in action on Sunday, with a home contest against Vassar at the Gordon Field House. The contest begins at 2 p.m.
