ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's swimming and diving team (5-7) picked up a 159.5-139.5 win over Nazareth College (5-4) in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at Judson Pool on the campus of RIT. Freshman Genna Senecal picked up three individual wins to lead the Tigers.
In the opening event of the meet, the team of
Brenna Woodling (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East),
Katie Baldwin (Phelps, NY/Midlakes), Senecal and
Alex Timberlake (Churchville, NY/Churchville-Chili) placed second in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing in a time of 1:54.32.
Jill Sirkis picked up a win in the 200-yard freestyle, coming home in a time of 2:02.79. Woodling picked up a win in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in a time of 2:17.53.
Senecal won the 200-yard butterfly (2:18.24), the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.98) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:16.48).
Katie Baldwin (Phelps, NY/Midlakes) won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.82, and won the 100-yard freestyle finishing in a time of 54.36.
Junior diver
Sam Huselstein (Olean, NY/Olean) won both diving competitions. She won the 1-meter competition with a final score of 229.55, and took the 3-meter competition with a final score of 239.00.
The Tigers placed first and third in the 400-yard freestyle relay to close out the meet. The team of Timberlake, Sirkis,
Mariah Lamb (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) and Baldwin placed first in a time of 3:43.32. The team of
Caitlin Foster (Bath, ME/Morse),
Rachel Kobel (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen),
Kelsey Schaefer (Berea, OH/Berea) and
Colleen Manning (Farmingdale, NY/St. Anthony's) placed third in a time of 3:51.22.
RIT will compete at the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association Championships beginning Wednesday, Feb. 19 and running through Feb. 22 hosted by Ithaca College.
