ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT (4-1) men's swimming and diving team defeated St. Lawrence University (1-2) 131-96 in dual meet action from Judson Pool on the campus of RIT Saturday afternoon. The Tigers won seven individual events and one relay en route to their fourth straight dual-meet win.
Seven different swimmers picked up wins for RIT on Saturday. Junior
Justin Morris (Holliston, MA/Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School) picked up the win in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:50.76, while
Derek Brown (Canisteo, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.53.
Freshman
John Stelmack (Toccoa, GA/Stephens County) won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:10.57, while classmate
Josh Enrico (West Chester, OH/Lakota East) picked up the win in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 54.35.
Ryan Facchine (Fairview, PA/Fairview) was the winner in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.86, and
Steven Paine (York, PA/Dallastown Area) took home the win in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 57.40.
Senior diver
Matt DePalo (Franklin, MA/Xaverian Brothers) won the 3-meter diving event with an excellent score of 323.10.
John Tellgren (Anoka, MN/Anoka) finished second behind DePalo with a score of 246.85.
In the opening relay, the Tigers took the number one and three spots. The team of
Nate Marshall (Waverly, NY/Waverly),
Matthew Butler (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore East), Enrico and Brown won the event in a time of 1:40.80. The team of
Alex Cutri (Victor, NY/Victor),
Julius Jeong (Salisbury, MD/Wicomico),
Thomas Regan (Hollis, NH/Hollis Brookline) and
Lucas Fitzgerald (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) placed third in a time of 1:50.29.
The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. when the Tigers face LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y.
