ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT (3-1) men's swimming and diving team defeated Fredonia State (0-2) 171-129 in Steele Hall Natatorium on the campus of Fredonia Saturday afternoon to notch their third straight win. The Tigers picked up wins in five individual events and also a victory in a relay and diving event.
Josh Enrico finished the day with three individual wins. He won both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke in times of 56.97 and 2:03.26 respectively. Enrico also clinched the number one spot in the 200-yard individual medley finishing the race in a time of 2:03.60.
Ryan Facchine (Fairview, PA/Fairview) won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.72, while
Derek Brown (Canisteo, NY/Canisteo-Greenwood) finished right behind him in 22.83.
Justin Morris (Holliston, MA/Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School) took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.87.
In the diving events,
Matt DePalo (Franklin, MA/Xaverian Brothers) placed first in the 1-meter scoring 275.40. He also placed second in the 3-meter with 265.85.
In the relay event, the Tigers knotted the number one and two spots. Facchine,
Steven Paine (York, PA/Dallastown Area),
Ryan Leeson (Elma, NY/Iroquois), and Brown finished first with a time of 1:30.88. The second place relay consisted of Matt Butler,
Matt Berus (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North), Nate Marchall, and
John O'Gorman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) in a time of 1:33.17.
The Tigers will be back in action from Judson Pool on RIT campus Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.
