ROCHESTER, NY – Junior diver
Sam Huselstein (Olean, NY/Olean) had a career day for the RIT women's swimming and diving team (4-7), breaking school records in both the one-meter and three-meter dives, as the Tigers fell to cross-town rival Rochester (6-4) 203-89 at Judson Pool on Saturday afternoon.
Huselstein stole the show for RIT, breaking a pair of 21 year old records in the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Huselstein scored a terrific score of 289.72 in the one-meter, crushing the previous record of 261.90 held by
Kathy Hugelier. In the three-meter Huselstein's score of 256.95 just edged out Hugelier's previous record of 256.50. Her record breaking performance in the one-meter also qualified her for the NCAA Division III National Diving Regional, which will be held at RIT's Judson Pool Feb. 28 - March 1.
In the pool,
Katie Baldwin (Phelps, NY/Midlakes) earned a first place finish for RIT in the 50-yard freestyle, coming in at a time of 24.93. Genna Senecal earned first place in the 200-yard IM, swimming a time of 2:18.52.
Baldwin and Senecal were both part of the Tigers 200-yard medley relay, also made up of
Brenna Woodling (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) and
Alex Timberlake (Churchville, NY/Churchville-Chili), that finished in second on the day with a time of 1:56.36.Woodling had herself a good day as well picking up second place finishes in 100-yard backstroke, with a time of 1:03.14, and the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 2:17.00.
Next up for the Tigers will be their final home meet of the 2013-14 season as they take on Nazareth, next Saturday Feb. 1, starting at 1 p.m.
