PITTSFORD, NY - For the second straight day, the RIT volleyball team (2-6) dropped a pair of matches at the Golden Flyer Invitational, hosted by Nazareth College on Saturday. RIT dropped the opening match to Salisbury in four games, 25-22, 17-25, 15-25, 22-25, then fell to SUNY Fredonia, also in four games, 25-27, 17-25, 25-16, 18-25.
Against Salisbury,
Rebecca Moore (San Diego, CA/Rancho Bernardo) led the way with 14 kills, while hitting .316.
Cat Sullivan (Lehman, PA/Lake-Lehman) hit .750 with six kills, while
Suzanne Jokajtys (Boonville, NY/Adirondack) added eight kills. Setter
Christina Worth (Valencia, CA/Valencia) dished out 34 assists and recorded 11 digs, three blocks, and three kills.
Katie Cooper (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) matched Worth with 11 digs and three service aces. Freshman
Bethany Davis (Blasdell, NY/Frontier) recorded 19 digs.
Davis broke her career-high in digs for the third straight match against Fredonia, finishing with 23. Worth recorded 39 assists and three service aces. Jokajtys recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs, while Cooper added nine kills and three blocks. Freshman
Amanda White (Watertown, NY/Watertown) tallied four kills and three blocks. Moore slammed a team-best 18 kills but hit .074.
Last night, the Tigers fell to Mount Union in three games, and SUNY Cortland in four games.
The Tigers return to action on Friday and Saturday, as they host the 23rd Annual 12-team RIT Volleyball Invitational. On Friday, the Tigers play Buffalo State at 1 p.m. and St. John Fisher at 7 p.m. On Saturday, RIT plays Trine at 10 a.m. and nationally-ranked NYU at 4 p.m.
