Men's swimming and diving suffers first dual meet loss of the season at Alfred

The RIT men's swimming and diving team (3-1) suffered its first dual meet loss of the season, falling to  host Alfred University, 132-109 on Thursday evening.  The Tigers won both one relay event and three individual events on the evening.

Sophomore diver John Tellgren (Anoka, MN/Anoka) won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events for the Tigers. Hee won the one-meter event over teammate Matt DePalo (Franklin, MA/Xaverian Brothers) with a score of 282.80, and took first place in the three-meter event with a final score of 268.35, with DePalo in second once again.

The team of Mitchell Cook (Tolland, CT/Tolland), Cory Deacon (Scottsville, NY/Wheatland-Chili), Scott Farrell (Buffalo, NY/North Tonawanda) and Kevin Christiansen (Penfield, NY/Penfield) won the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:28.94.  The 200-medley relay squad of Kyle Wilson (Buffalo, NY/Canisius), Juilus Jeong, Ryan Brannan (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) and Deacon were second in 1:41.78.

Christiansen was RIT's only other winner of the evening, winning the 50-yard freestyle in 22.16 seconds.  He was also second in the 100-free in 49.31 seconds.  Brannan was second in the 100-fly in 54.47 seconds, while Meiman was second in the 100-breaststroke in 1:04.54.

The Tigers are right back in action on Saturday, as they travel to Utica to face the Pioneers in a dual meet at 1 p.m.
