ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's swimming and diving team improved to 2-0 on Saturday evening, defeating SUNY Fredonia at home 176.5-123.5. RIT won seven individual events and both relay events.
Kevin Hom (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) won the 1000-yard freestyle by 14 seconds with a time of 10:44.11. He also took the 200-yard freestyle in 1:48.29, and won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:58.87.
Kevin Christiansen (Penfield, NY/Penfield) was victorious in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle. He took the 50- in 21.61, then won the 100- in 48.86. He partnered with
Kyle Wilson (Buffalo, NY/Canisius),
Peter Coutts (Statsburg, NY/F.D. Roosevelt High School), and
Ryan Brannan (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:40.62. Christiansen, Brannan, Cody Deacon, and
Mitchell Cook (Tolland, CT/Tolland) placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:28.03.
Diver
John Tellgren (Anoka, MN/Anoka) took the 1-meter with a score of 268.60 and placed second in the 3-meter with 222.80 points.
Brannan placed second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:09.93 with a tenth of a second separating him from first place.
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday at 1 p.m. as they travel to Canton to face St. Lawrence.
