ITHACA, NY -
The RIT baseball team (16-18, 5-9 Empire 8) dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Ithaca (18-16, 10-4 Empire 8) on a cool and windy Saturday afternoon.  The Tigers fell in game one, 5-4, and dropped game two, 6-4.

In game one, RIT held leads of 2-0 and 3-2 before Ithaca scored three times in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead for good.  RIT rallied with a run in the top of the seventh inning, but it was not enough.

Ithaca pitchers hit six Tiger batters in game one.  Kreag Bradley (Victor, NY/Victor) was hit three times, setting a single-game record.

Geoff Dornes (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) was 2-for-3 with a double, and two RBI.  Dave Kernan (North Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse), Ed Hughes (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt), and Josh Rodems (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) each had a hit and run batted in.

Dornes took the loss in game one, throwing a complete-game.  He allowed nine hits and five runs.

In game two, RIT led 1-0 after the top of first inning, but Ithaca scored three times in the bottom of the frame to go up 3-1.  Justin Smith (Livonia, NY/Livonia) was 2-for-4 with a triple and run scored.  Ryan Campbell (Brockport, NY/Brockport) was 2-for-4 with a run batted in.

Hughes set the single-season record for assists in a season with 102.

The two teams conclude the weekend on Sunday with a double that gets underway at 12 p.m.
