Baseball rolls to doubleheader sweep of Cazenovia

CAZENOVIA, NY -
The RIT baseball team (12-9) rolled to a pair of road non-conference victories on Sunday afternoon, defeating Cazenovia, 6-1 and 19-4.  The 19 runs scored in game two are a season-high.

In game one, junior hurler Mike Marsillo (Scottsdale, AZ/Desert Mountain) struck out eight batters and gave up just one unearned run in the complete game win.  Ed Hughes (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt), Kreag Bradley (Victor, NY/Victor), and Justin Smith (Livonia, NY/Livonia) each had two hits.

In game two, RIT broke the game open with 12 runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Josh Rodems (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and Jeffrey Creagh (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) both hit their first collegiate home runs.  Rodems was 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Bradley was 3-for-5 with five RBI.  Smith was 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Brad Wright (Baldswinville, NY/C.W. Baker) earned the win in relief, throwing two scoreless innings.

The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, as they host Rochester in a single, nine-inning game on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
