Men's swimming and diving wins close contest over Alfred

ROCHESTER N.Y. – The RIT men's swimming and diving team defeated Alfred University in a close contest with a final score of 125-116 on Friday afternoon. Despite winning only four events, the Tigers move to 3-0 on the season.

RIT's 4 X 400-freestyle relay team of Mitchell Cook (Tolland, CT/Tolland), Ryan Marchant (Norwich, NY/Norwich High School), Kevin Hom (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and Kevin Christiansen (Penfield, NY/Penfield) clinched the win with a close second place finish at 3:17.60. They were one of three RIT relay teams to score in the top five.

Hom won a pair of individual events for the Tigers. He was first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:11.59, and the 500-yard freestyle in 4:51.88.

Christiansen won the 500-yard freestyle event in a time of 21.98 and placed second in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.41.

Evan Wendt (Norwich, NY/Norwich High School) took home first place in the three-meter diving event with a score of 274.60.

The Tigers return to action next Saturday, Nov. 13, as they host St. Lawrence at Judson Pool. The meet will commence at 1 p.m.
