PITTSFORD, NY –
The RIT men's soccer team (1-1) dropped its first game of the 2009 season, falling 3-0 to No. 12 Hobart on Saturday at the sixth-annual Doug May Memorial Classic held at Nazareth College.

Michael Moulton scored two goals for the Statesmen (1-0), who out-shot RIT 23-12. Evan Gray also scored for Hobart.

Freshman goalkeeper Bora Turgut (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) made eight saves in the loss for RIT.

Hobart got on the board first in the 17th minute, as Will Abbott slid a pass across that eluded one Statesman, but found Michael Moulton at the right side of the goal all alone. Moulton was able to fire the shot past a diving Turgut.

RIT's best chance of the opening half came with just over five minutes remaining, as Todd Gaulocher (Old Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) took a lob shot from an odd angle on the left side the clanged off the post and bounced right to Matt Broedel (Hamilton, NY/Hamilton). Broedel chipped a shot from about 10 feet out that went just past the left post and wide.

Hobart had a golden chance to go up 2-0 right before halftime, as Andrew Steates hit the crossbar from in front off a throw-in.

The Statesmen out-shot RIT, 13-5 over the opening 45 minutes of play.

Hobart went up 2-0 in the 57th minute, as Moulton tallied his second goal of the afternoon. He knocked down a pass from Rueben Burk inside the box, and slid a low shot past Turgut.

Broedel had a second excellent opportunity midway through the second half, as he fired a shot from 15-yards out that just slid wide. Later in the half, David Vogt (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) was all alone at the side of the net. His shot was stopped by Hobart goalkeeper Charlie Hale.

Gray put the game away for Hobart in 71st minute, chipping a ball over Turgut from in close.

The Tigers return to action on Sunday, as they face SUNY Brockport, once again at Nazareth, in the finale of the Doug May Classic at 11 a.m.
