Men's Soccer falls to Brockport, 2-1 in season opener

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT senior midfielder Tate Pottle scored in the Tigers 2-1 loss to Brockport in Tuesday's season-opener.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Khadim Amar scored in the third minute to give Brockport a 1-0 lead.
  • Ryan Mathis gave the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead on his goal in the 26th minute.
  • Junior Robin Giesing had his shot in the 32nd minute blocked by a Brockport defender, while junior forward Jackson Mulford had his shot in the 33rd minute blocked away.
  • Pottle scored off an assist from senior midfielder Gabriel Zaninetti in the 69th minute to cut Brockport's lead to 2-1. Zaninetti sent in a corner kick that Pottle ran onto, poking in a shot from eight yards away.
  • Senior forward Idriss Diallo had his shot in the 53rd minute turned away by Brockport keeper AJ Nelson.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • Brockport outshot RIT, 8-6.
  • The Tigers had four corner kicks to two for the Golden Eagles.
  • Junior goalkeeper Kristian Dobbek got the start in net for the Tigers.
