Men's tennis makes it two straight wins with road victory at Hartwick

The RIT men's tennis team picked up its second straight win, defeating Empire 8 foe Hartwick (3-4, 1-1 Empire 8) 7-2 on Sunday afternoon.   RIT improves to 3-3 in 2009 with the victory and is 1-2 in Empire 8 play.

Senior Jose Guzman (Guatemala/Collegio Valle Verde) (Guatemala/Collegio Valle Verde) earned a 6-4, 6-3 win at first singles.  Freshman  Clayton Tontarski (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) and Adam Wolf (South Euclid, Ohio/Brush) (South Euclid, OH/Brush) picked up straight-game victories at third and sixth singles for RIT.  Junior John Traver (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) (Clifton Park, NY/Shenedehowa) won 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 at second singles, while senior #Mauricio Pommier (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/German)# (Santa Criz, Bolivia/German) was a 7-5, 6-7 (2-7), 10-5 winner at fifth singles for the Tigers..

RIT won two of three doubles matches. Wolf and Traver garnered an 8-6 win at second doubles, while the duo of Larry Hall (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and John Albers (Grands Rapids, MI/Forest Hills) (Grand Rapids, MI/Forest Hills) picked up an 8-3 win at thurd doubles.

The Tigers are back in action on Tueday, as they host Empire 8 rival St. John Fisher at 4 p.m.
