UTICA, NY - The RIT baseball team (11-18. 5-5 Empire 8)split a doubleheader at Utica (4-16, 1-7 Empire 8) on Saturday afternoon.  Utica won game one 7-6 before RIT took game two, 3-2.  RIT Head Coach Rob Grow won his 299th career game and will go for number 300 on Sunday.

In game one, Andrew Diaz drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.  RIT took a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh inning as Dave Kernan (North Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) drove in a pair of runs on a fielders choice.

Juniors Josh Rodems (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park), Kyle Desrosiers (North Attleboro, MA/Xaverian Brothers) (North Attleboro, MA/Xaverian Brothers) and Geoff Dornes (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) (Landsville, PA/Hempfield), along with sophomore Ed Hughes (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) recorded two hits apiece.  Freshman Ben Robertson (Mecklenburg, NY/Trumansburg) (Mecklenburg, NY/Trumansburg) drove in a pair of runs.

In game two, RIT scored three runs in the third inning and hung on for the win. 

Matt Austin (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) drove in a run with a double and scored on a single by Kreag Bradley (Victor, NY/Victor) (Victor, NY/Victor).  Dornes drove in Bradley with a single for the third run of the frame.

Cory Langtry (Moravia, NY/Moravia) (Moravia, NY/Moravia) picked up the win on the mound, throwing a complete-game six-hitter, allowing one earned run and striking out four.

RIT and Utica rseume their weekend series on Sunday with a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
