ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT men's tennis team (6-3, 4-2 Empire 8) made its five straight victories after shutting out the Alfred Saxons (3-6, 2-4 Empire 8) 9-0 in Empire 8 action at the Gordon Field House on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers played excellent tennis, not dropping a single set and just 10 singles games on the afternoon. Jose Guzman (Guatemala/Collegio Valle Verde) (Guatemala/Collegio Valle Verde) earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at first singles, while John Traver (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) (Clifton Park, NY/Shenedehowa) won at second singles by the same score. 

Freshmen Clayton Tontarski (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush Henrietta), and Max Bogue (Colchester, VT/Colchester) (Colchester, VT/Colchester) were nearly perfect, losing just one game apiece in wins at third and fourth singles, respectively.

At fifth singles, Mauricio Pommier (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/German) (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/German) was a 6-2, 6-0 winner, while Adam Wolf (South Euclid, Ohio/Brush) (South Euclid, OH/South Euclid) scored a 6-0, 6-0 win at sixth singles.

The first doubles team of Guzman and Tontarski earned an 8-5 win, while Traver and Wolf won 8-3 at second doubles. and John Albers (Grands Rapids, MI/Forest Hills) (Grand Raipds, MI/Forest Hills) and Larry Hall (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (Fairport, NY/Fairport) picked up their sixth wins of the season at third doubles, 8-2.

The Tigers are right back in action on Saturday, when they host Hartwick College in an Empire 8 matchup. Play starts at 1 p.m.
