PHOENIX, AZ - The RIT Tigers came back from an upsetting pair of losses to Wartburg Tuesday by defeating St. John's University (Minnesota) 9-2, knotting their record at 2-2. RIT was led by
Geoff Dornes (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) (Landisville, PA/Hempfield) who took the mound for the Tigers, going eight innings, allowing only two runs on four hits and fanning seven in his first win of the season.
RIT's bats came alive Wednesday afternoon, scoring nine runs on eleven hits.
Jeff Creagh (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) has been as hot as the Arizona sun, hitting .500 (7-for-14) with four runs and four RBIs over the last four games. Creagh went 3-for-5 on the afternoon, including an RBI double in the top of the third to put the Tigers ahead 2-1.
After a two out Homerun by the Johnnie's Matt Magnan, RIT regained the lead on a bases-loaded walk by
Justin Smith (Livonia, NY/Livonia) (Livonia, NY/Livonia), who scored
Josh Rodems (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) to go ahead 3-2. RIT continued to pour it on, plating two runs in the seventh and eighth innings, along with one run in the top of the ninth.
Raffaele Parisi (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, including a scorcher up the middle that plated
Anthony Culotta (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili). Culotta and
Jeremy Tosh (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) each had two runs for the Tigers.
Brad Wright (Baldswinville, NY/C.W. Baker) (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) finished the game on the mound for the Tigers in the bottom of the ninth.
The Tigers are back in action Thursday as they play St. John's College once again at 12:30 p.m.
