BABSON PARK, MA -- The RIT baseball team split a pair of games at Babson College on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers dropped game one 4-1 but rebounded to take game two 13-7. The split runs RIT's record to 3-9 on the season.
Game one was tied at one until the bottom of the fifth when Babson scored a run. The Badgers added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away.
RIT's lone run came in the top of the fourth.
Jeff Creagh (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) drew a one-out walk and was driven in by #
Raffaele Parisi (Rochester, NY/Aquinas)# (Rochester, NY/Aquinas) who doubled.
Parisi went 2-3 with a double and a RBI.
Geoff Dornes (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) got the start going 5 2/3 innings. He allowed three earned runs on six hits. Dornes struck out three and walked three.
RIT jumped out early in game two, scoring four runs in the top of the first. The Tigers added two in the second, one in the third and three up a four-spot in the fourth to break open a close game. RIT added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth for the 13-7 win.
Jeremy Tosh (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) (Woodbine, MD/Glenelg) was the star in game two going 4-5 with four RBI and two runs scored. #
Kyle Desrosiers (North Attleboro, MA/Xaverian Brothers)# (North Attleboro, MA/Xaverian Brothers) went 2-5 with a RBI and a run scored. #
Justin Smith (Livonia, NY/Livonia)# (Livonia, NY) went 1-4 with two RBI and scored three runs. Five different Tigers had at least one hit.
Cory Langtry (Moravia, NY/Moravia) (Moravia, NY) picked up the win for RIT going six innings allowing six earned runs on nine hits. He struck out two and walked three. Desrosiers pitched a scoreless seventh inning for RIT.
RIT will begin Empire 8 conference play next weekend when they host Ithaca College. Saturday's douoble-header will begin at 1 pm. Sunday's double-header will get under way at 1 pm.
