HOBOKEN, NJ - The RIT baseball team (15-11, 6-4 Empire 8) extended its winning streak to nine games after sweeping Stevens (7-25, 0-11 Empire 8) in an Empire 8 doubleheader on Saturday by a scores of 5-1 and 8-3. RIT scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning in game two, breaking a 2-2 tie.
In game one, the Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead with two runs in each of the first two innings. From there, sophomore pitcher
Geoff Dornes (Landisville, PA/Hempfiled) (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) did the rest, allowing just one run and scattering six hits over six innings for his first win of the season.
Senior catcher
Ryan Tryt (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) gave RIT a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two-run home run, his second of the season. Dornes was 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored, while
Matt George (Walton, NY/Walton) (Walton, NY/Walton) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two stolen bases and a run batted in.
George now has 18 stolen bases on the season, two off his season record of 20, set last season. He has 39 career stolen bases, third all-time at RIT.
RIT exploded for six runs in the top of the seventh inning of game two, breaking a 2-2 tie en route to an 8-3 win.

Justin Smith (Livonia, NY/LIvonia) (Livonia, NY/Livonia) completed the scoring onslaught with a two-run single to make it 8-2 Tigers.
Junior
Cory Langtry (Moravia, NY/Moravia) (Moravia, NY/Moravia) picked up his sixth win of the season, going the distance, allowing six hits and two earned runs.
Dornes scored three runs and ripped two doubles. Tosh went 3-for-3, while Rodems threw out two would-be Stevens' base-runners.
The same two teams meet again in a doubleheader on Sunday, starting at 12 p.m.
