ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT women's swimming/diving team defeated St. Lawrence University 168-118 on Saturday afternoon. #Caitlyn Burr (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy)# (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) and Cat Jones (Eden, NY/Eden) (Eden, NY) each won two events to pace the Tigers.  Burr also broke her own 200-yard butterfly record.

Burr was part of the 200-yard medley relay team that gave the Tigers an early win. Rachel Lorenz (Norwich, NY/Norwich) (Oneonta, NY/Norwich), Burr, Brittany Schlunt (Santa Cruz, CA/Harbor) (Santa Cruz, CA/Harbor) and Kurt O'Neill (Hamburg, NY/Mt. Mercy Academy) won the event in a time of 1:56.42.

Angie Palomaki (Victor, NY/Victor) (Victor, NY) won the first of her two events with a firt in the 1000-yard freestyle. She won the event by six seconds (11:33.99) over Katie Spakowski of St. Lawrence.

Rachel Lorenz (Norwich, NY/Norwich) and Melissa Harrison (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) (Binghamton, NY/Chenago Forks) finished first and second in the 100-yard backstroke to help increase the Tigers lead. Lorenz won in a time of 1:03.12, while Harrison came home second with a time of 1:06.15.

Burr won her first event of the day with a first place in the 200-yard butterfly. She won the event in a time of 2:10.97, beating her closest opponent by nearly 15 seconds.  It is a new school record.

Jones got into the win column with a first place in the one-meter diving event. She beat Sarah Silk of St. Lawrence with a score of 257.30.

Lorenz won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:19.31to help increase RIT's lead in the overall competition.

Burr and Jones put the meet out of reach with wins in the 100-yard butterfly and the three-meter diving event. Burr won with a time of 59.63 and was the only swimmer to go under a minute. Jones won the diving with a score of 135.45.
