WEST POINT, N.Y. – RIT senior forward
Simon Isabelle scored the game-winning goal with 1:06 left in overtime to lead the Tigers to a 3-2 Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) victory at Army, Saturday.
First-year forward
Evan Konyen logged a goal and the game-winning assist while first-year forward
Caleb Elfering also found the net in the victory. Sophomore goaltender Jakub Krbeck ended the game with 31 saves, including 18 during the third period and three in overtime.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Army opened the scoring with a power play goal at 8:45 of the first period. Nils Forselius backhanded a pass from the right faceoff circle to Billy Batten in the slot, who finished the rush with a short finish inside the left post.
RIT tied the game at the seven-minute mark of the second. Konyen beat a defender to a loose puck after a Black Knight miscue in the neutral zone and skated back to score on a shot under goaltender JJ Cataldo's pads inside the right post.
RIT scored the go-ahead goal with 6:05 left in regulation. First-year forward

Crossley Stewart at the point and threw a pass to the slot for Elfering, who corralled his own rebound and tucked a shot inside the right post.
Army was awarded a penalty shot with 14.9 left in regulation after a RIT player was deemed to have covered a puck on the crease during a melee on the Tiger goal. Dylan Wegner tied the game, deking a backhanded shot around Krbecek inside the right post.
In the 3-on-3 overtime, Isabelle took a feed from Konyen in the slot and one-timed the deciding tally inside the left post.
GAME NOTES
- Krebeck improved to 16-10-1 this winter after logging his 18th career game with at least 30 saves.
- Konyen scored his team leading 22nd point and 12th goal of the season.
- Elfering added his seventh goal this winter, while Isabelle's game winner was his fifth tally of the campaign.
- Isabelle was also credited with his second career overtime game-winner and first since logging the deciding tally with 12.7 seconds on the clock in a 7-6 win at Mercyhurst on Feb. 9, 2024.
- Both teams finished with 33 shots on goal. RIT led, 26-11, after two periods.
- Army was 1-for-3 on the power play while RIT finished 0-for-2.
