Women's Basketball defeats Clarkson, 87-54

 
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's basketball team defeated Clarkson, 87–54, Friday evening. The Tigers opened with a 26-point first quarter and never trailed, extending their win streak to seven games.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT jumped out to a 26–20 lead after the first quarter behind 10 early points from sophomore forward Ben Kayser‑Cochran.
  • The Tigers opened the second quarter on a 12–1 run to push the lead to double digits, using defensive pressure that forced six Clarkson turnovers in the frame.
  • RIT held the Golden Knights to just three points in the third quarter, outscoring the visitors 21–3 and taking a 71–34 lead into the fourth.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Kayser‑Cochran led RIT with 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting, adding three rebounds and a block. The 22 points matches a career-high, which they set last season.
  • Junior forward Faye Kaplinski scored 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting and grabbed three boards.
  • Erin DiPaola, a senior guard, finished with five assists, five steals, and five points.
  • First-year guard Mia Firdman chipped in eight points and five rebounds, while graduate student guard Hannah Durand added eight points, including a third-quarter three.
  • RIT shot 62.7 percent (37-for-59) from the field and 42.9 percent from beyond the arc, while holding Clarkson to 38.5 percent shooting and just 1-for-10 in the third quarter.
  • RIT dominated in the paint with a 50–22 scoring advantage and added 31 bench points as a total of 12 players scored for RIT.
  • The Tigers won the rebounding battle 32–28 and committed only eight turnovers.
  • The win improves the Tigers to 11–2 in the Liberty League and 14-6 overall.
