ROCHESTER, N.Y. - RIT Men's Hockey first-year forward
Evan Konyen was named Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Rookie of the Month, Wednesday.
- In 10 games last month, Konyen totaled nine points on five goals and four assists, including two game-winning tallies.
- Konyen scored the game-winning goal in RIT's 1-0 shutout of Penn State (Jan. 3) on his way to AHA Rookie of the Week honors.
- He was also credited with the game-winner, along with an assist and two blocked shots in the Tigers' 3-2 overtime win over Robert Morris (Jan. 10).
- Konyen notched a goal and an assist in the 4-2 win at Niagara (Jan. 23),
- He finished the month with at least one point in seven games, including a five-game point streak.
- Konyen is the second Tiger to be named AHA Rookie of the Month season, joining October honoree Caleb Elfering. Sophomore goaltender Jakub Krbecek was also named the AHA Goaltender of the Month for October.
RIT (15-11-2, 11-7-2 AHA) heads to Army this Friday and Saturday (Feb. 6-7) for two AHA contests. Faceoffs are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and 4:05 p.m., respectively.
