Women's Basketball gets past Vassar, 56-45

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The RIT women's basketball team defeated Vassar, 56–45, Saturday afternoon. The Tigers used a strong fourth quarter to pull out the win and extend their unbeaten streak to 10 games.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT closed the first quarter with a buzzer‑beating jumper by senior guard Erin DiPaola to cut the Brewers' lead to 12–10.
  • The Tigers opened the second on a 16–4 run, highlighted by a three from sophomore Caroline Henderson and back‑to‑back buckets from Ramsgard, to take a 26–22 halftime lead.
  • Ben Kayser‑Cochran, a sophomore forward, tied the game at 31–31 with a layup at 2:30 in the third quarter before converting a three-point play to give RIT a 32–31 lead moments later.
  • RIT held Vassar to just nine third‑quarter points to enter the fourth ahead 36–31.
  • Kayser‑Cochran knocked down consecutive threes early in the fourth as part of a 12–4 Tigers run to extend the lead to double digits.
  • Ramsgard sealed the game at the line, going 4‑for‑4 in the final minute.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Ramsgard scored a game‑high 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
  • Kayser‑Cochran added 12 points, including two threes, and tallied four rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block.
  • DiPaola finished with nine points, while junior forward Faye Kaplinski and Henderson each contributed seven and three assists, respectively.
  • RIT shot 43.8 percent from the floor (21‑for‑48) and 76.9 percent from the foul line (10‑for‑13).
  • The Tigers forced 13 Vassar turnovers and scored 11 points off them.
  • RIT outscored Vassar 20–14 in the fourth quarter and 24–22 in the paint overall.
  • With the win, the Tigers improve to 17–6 overall and 14-2 in the Liberty League.
