Women's Basketball wins at RPI, 59-49

TROY, N.Y. – Junior guard Maddy Ramsgard scored a game-high 19 points as the RIT women's basketball team earned a 59–49 win at RPI Friday evening.
 
The Tigers led wire-to-wire after a strong first quarter and held the Engineers to single-digit scoring in the fourth to secure their ninth-straight win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT opened the game on a 5–2 run, including a three-pointer from sophomore forward Ben Kayser‑Cochran, and led 16–13 after the first quarter.
  • A 7–0 second quarter burst highlighted by threes from sophomore guard Caroline Henderson and graduate student guard Hannah Durand extended the lead to 24–16.
  • RIT went in halftime with a 31–25 advantage after a three-point play by junior forward Faye Kaplinski in the final minute of the second quarter.
  • Henderson's third three of the night made it 46–37 with 1:21 left in the third, as RIT entered the fourth quarter with a six-point lead.
  • The Tigers opened the fourth with an 8–3 run, including a Durand three and consecutive jumpers by Ramsgard to push the lead to 55–43.
  • RIT's defense held the Engineers to nine points in the final quarter, sealing the 10‑point win.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Ramsgard stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with 19 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. The junior shot 8-of-12 from the floor.
  • Henderson scored 13 points, hitting three shots from beyond the arc to go along with four rebounds.
  • Kaplinski chipped in eight points, six rebounds, three blocks, and three assists.
  • RIT shot 41.2 percent (21-for‑51) overall and 31.6 percent from three-point range (6-for‑19).
  • The Tigers out-rebounded RPI 37–29 and outscored the Engineers 12–5 off turnovers.
  • The result improves RIT's record to 16–6 overall and 13–2 in Liberty League
