Women's Basketball downs Ithaca at home, 80-55

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's basketball team defeated Ithaca, 80–55, Saturday afternoon. The Tigers jumped out to a 26–10 first-quarter lead and never trailed, knocking down 11 three‑pointers and placing four players in double figures.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT made six threes in the first quarter, including three from sophomore forward Ben Kayser‑Cochran, to take a 26–10 lead.
  • A three-pointer by sophomore guard Caroline Henderson early in the second quarter extended the margin to 29–10.
  • Maddy Ramsgard, a junior guard, scored nine points in the second quarter as RIT moved ahead 46–24 at halftime.
  • Ithaca cut slightly into the margin in the third, but a trio of threes from Henderson kept RIT in front.
  • RIT finished the fourth quarter by scoring 12 points at the free throw line and maintained control the rest of the way.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Ramsgard poured in a season-high 21 points while grabbing six rebounds for the Tigers.
  • Kayser‑Cochran added 18 points as Henderson scored 16 points and dished out five assists.
  • Senior guard Erin DiPaola tallied 13 points to go along with a career-high eight assists.
  • RIT shot 50.9 percent from the field (27-for-53) and 47.8 percent from three (11-for-23).
  • RIT won the rebounding battle, 36–26, including nine offensive boards.
  • The Tigers, who have won six-straight, improve to 13–6 overall and 10–2 in Liberty League play.
