ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's basketball team fell to Union, 69-60, in a Liberty League matchup, Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT opened the game with a 20-point first quarter, capped by a buzzer-beating three from graduate student forward Sydney Pearson.
- Union rallied in the second quarter, erasing a six-point deficit and tying the game at 34-34 heading into halftime.
- The Tigers regained the lead early in the third, but Union closed the period on a 6-0 run to go up 50-49.
- Union pulled away in the fourth, outscoring the Tigers 19-11 in the quarters, fueled by key layups from Jelena Perovic and Olivia Cunningham.
GAME NOTES
- Sophomore guard Caroline Henderson led RIT with 14 points, hitting four three-pointers.
- Junior forward Faye Kaplinski added 15 points and seven rebounds, while junior guard Maddy Ramsgard chipped in 10 points and five assists.
- RIT shot 37.3 percent from the field (22-for-59) and 36.4 percent from three (8-for-22).
- The Tigers held a 41-35 edge on the boards but committed 12 turnovers.
- RIT falls to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in Liberty League play.
