Women's Basketball drops road game at Union, 64-57

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The RIT women's basketball team fell on the road to Union, 64-57, in Liberty League action Tuesday evening. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT overcame an early deficit with a strong second quarter, outscoring the Garnet Charges 16-13 to head into the locker room tied, 29-29.
  • Union responded with a decisive 21-12 third quarter, fueled by three-pointers from Grace Ardito and Kate Peek.
  • The Tigers cut the deficit to three (60-57) on a Caroline Henderson three-pointer with 23 seconds left, but Union sealed the win at the free-throw line, making 4-of-6 free throws in the final moments.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Henderson, a sophomore guard, led RIT with 12 points, including three triples, while graduate student guard Hannah Durand added 10 points and two three-pointers.
  • Junior forward Faye Kaplinski recorded her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds, along with a blocked shot and a steal.
  • Union's Peek led all scorers with a game-high 22 points.
  • The Tigers held a 45-34 advantage on the boards, including 16 offensive rebounds.
  • RIT slips to 7-6 overall and 4-2 in Liberty League play.
