Women's Basketball tops Clarkson, 59-34

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The RIT women's basketball team earned a 59-34 win at Clarkson, Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a low-scoring first quarter, RIT's offense came alive in the second quarter. The Tigers went 8-of-17 from the field, shooting 47.1 percent while holding Clarkson to a pair of field goals to head into halftime leading 29-9.
  • RIT started the second half with a 7-2 run to extend their lead to 25 points with 7:32 remaining in the third quarter.
  • First-year forward Ben Kayser-Cochran gave the Tigers a 27-point advantage, their biggest lead of the game, late in the fourth quarter by hitting a three-pointer with 2:38 left on the clock.  
 
GAME NOTES
  • Senior guard Kaitlyn Bockelman scored 10 points with nine rebounds and a career-high four steals.
  • First-year guard Caroline Henderson scored a game-high 16 points after shooting an even 50 percent (5-of-10) from the field while hauling in six rebounds.
  • As a team, RIT held the Golden Knights to 34 points as Clarkson shot 20.4 percent (11-of-54) from the field.
  • The Tigers improve their record to 12-8 overall and 10-3 in the Liberty League.
