Women's Basketball loses at St. Lawrence, 55-52

CANTON, N.Y. – The RIT women's basketball team fell on the road to St. Lawrence, 55-52, Friday.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • St. Lawrence held the Tigers scoreless until senior guard Kaitlyn Bockleman put the visitors on the board with 3:42 left in the first quarter, making it an 11-2 Saints lead.
  • Trailing 19-6 to start the second quarter, the Tigers chipped away at the deficit to head into halftime tied at 26. RIT outscored the Saints 20-to-9 in the quarter.
  • Trailing by three points with 1:56 left in the third quarter, first-year guard Caroline Henderson hit a jump shot and made two free throws to give RIT a 44-43 lead as the teams entered the final quarter.
  • St. Lawrence regained the lead for good with the first basket in the fourth.
  • Sophomore forward Faye Kaplinksi made a layup with three minutes left to cut the Saints' lead to two points.
 
GAME NOTES
  • First-year forward Ben Keyser-Cochran led the Tigers with 11 points after going 5-of-8 from the field. The newcomer also hauled in nine rebounds and blocked two shots.
  • Kaplinski recorded a double-double with 10 points to go along with 14 rebounds.
  • Sophomore guard Maddy Ramsgard contributed 10 points while making five assists and seven rebounds.
  • The loss puts the Tigers at 11-8 overall and 9-3 in the Liberty League.

RIT completes their North Country trip tomorrow when they visit Clarkson at 2 p.m.
