BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The RIT women's basketball team dropped a non-conference matchup at Brockport, 65-61, Tuesday evening. The Tigers led by as many as eight points in the third quarter, but couldn't hold off a late Golden Eagles rally.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RIT held Brockport to just two made field goals in the first quarter, building a 12-4 lead after 10 minutes.
- The Tigers pushed their advantage to 16-4 early in the second quarter before Brockport answered with a 13-0 run to tie the game at 16 with 7:17 left in the second quarter.
- Sophomore guard Caroline Henderson hit a three-pointer with 7:03 left in the second quarter to stop the Brockport run and regain the lead for RIT.
- RIT led 40-33 midway through the third quarter after a three-pointer by junior guard Maddy Ramsgard, but Brockport rallied late and sealed the win with two free throws in the final seconds.
GAME NOTES
- Henderson led RIT with 16 points, including four three-pointers, and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. The sophomore also dished out six assists.
- Junior forward Faye Kaplinski and Ramsgard also recorded double-doubles for the visitors. Kaplinski finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Ramsgard finished with 15 points and 10 boards.
- RIT shot 32.9 percent (24-for-73) from the floor and 19.2 percent (5-for-26) from beyond the arc.
- The Tigers dominated the glass, outrebounding Brockport 58-45, including 16 offensive boards.
- The loss puts the Tigers' record at 3-3.
