Women's Volleyball falls to Clarkson, 3-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Despite a match-high 21 kills by first-year Anna Wasula, the RIT Women's Volleyball team fell, 3-1 (25-13, 22-25, 25-22, 25-15) to visiting Clarkson in Liberty League play, Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Clarkson led, 8-1, to start the first set before later scoring four-straight points for a 14-4 lead. The Golden Knights later built a 19-10 lead before finish the set on a 6-2 run.
  • Clarkson took an early 9-2 lead in the second before RIT scored six-straight points to start a 7-1 run to pull back within one, 10-9. The Golden Knights scored the next four points for a 14-9 lead, but the Tigers scored the next six points during an 8-1 run to move ahead, 17-15, but Clarkson answered with a 7-2 surge for a 22-19 lead. The Tigers responded by scoring the final six points, including a pair of Colling service aces and two Wasula kills, to earn the comeback win.
  • Tied, 7-7, to start the third, Clarkson scored a 5-1 run for a 12-8 lead. The Golden Knights later led, 19-14, before RIT pulled back within one, 21-20, following a 6-2 surge. Clarkson scored four of the final six points to take the third set.
  • Leading, 8-6, early in the fourth, Clarkson scored seven-straight points to start an 11-1 run for a decisive 19-7 lead. The Tigers scored a 6-1 run of their own to make it a seven-point deficit, 20-13, but Clarkson closed the match on a 5-2 run to complete the win.
