BEFORE RIT
• League and team MVP at Academy of the Holy Names
• Also a standout shot putter on the track & field team
• Three-time National Honor Society member
• Senior Class recipient of Excellence in Mathematics award
 
PERSONAL
• Anna Sofia Grinde Wasula was born in Albany, N.Y.
• Parents are Ellinor Grinde and Scott Wasula
• Enjoys working out and reading her bible and listening to country music in her spare time
• Best advice she’s ever received, “Don’t think, just go out there and do your best” from former high school track & field coach Carlo Cherubino
• Also lists Cherubino as having the most influence on her athletic career because, “He pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and always had a sarcastic comment to lighten the mood. He saw what I was capable of long before I had any idea. Strength coach Teagan Waddingham also “always believed in me even when I didn’t and always knew the right words I needed to hear.”
