Men's Basketball loses 63-61 at Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – RIT junior guard Brock Bowen scored 14 points in the Tigers 63-61 loss at Vassar, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bowen and junior guard Chase Dickens hit back-to-back three-pointers early in the game to give RIT a 6-0 lead while junior forward Jackson Otis made two free throws to increase the Tiger's lead to 8-0.
  • Vassar's Avery Lee tied the score at 10-10 on his dunk, while Luke Adams gave the Brewers a 13-10 lead on his three-pointer with 13:00 remaining in the half.
  • Senior guard Matt Caggiano scored with 11:16 to play to tie the game at 15-15.
  • Nathan Denham capped off a 6-0 Vassar spurt with a bucket with 8:37 remaining to increase the Vassar lead to 21-15.
  • Bowen scored on a driving layup with 6:36 to play to cut the Vassar lead to 21-19.
  • Denham scored with 3:29 remaining to give the Brewers a 25-21 lead.
  • Logan Scott scored with six seconds remaining in the half to give Vassar a 30-27 lead, but senior forward Kenny Wilburn made two free throws in the closing seconds of the half to make it 30-29, Vassar at the break.
  • Dickens tied the game at 34-34 with a dunk with 17:54 to play in the second half, and junior forward Josiah Turner scored back-to-back baskets to increase the RIT lead to 40-36 lead.
  • Vassar's Case Parsons scored with 11:18 remaining to give the Brewers a 48-44 lead.
  • Caggiano's pull-up jumper with 7:26 to play tied the score at 48-48.
  • Denham scored with 5:38 remaining to give Vassar a 57-54 lead, but Caggiano scored with 4:48 to play to cut the deficit to 57-55.
  • Bowen stole the ball and scored with 1:41 remaining to tie the score at 61-61.
  • Adams and Lee made key free throws in the closing seconds to make it a 63-62 final.

  • Vassar held a 37-30 rebounding edge
