Men's Basketball wins 71-66 at Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – RIT junior forward Josiah Turner scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Tigers to a 71-66 win at Skidmore, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Turner scored seven points in a 14-0 run by RIT to start the game. He scored with 15:10 to play in the first half to give the Tigers a 14-0 lead.
  • Skidmore's Jake Walsh scored to cut the RIT lead to 18-11, while junior guard Brock Bowen made a pair of free throws with 6:30 remaining in the half to give RIT a 20-11 lead.
  • Walsh hit a three-pointer with 5:32 to play to cut the RIT lead to 20-14.
  • First year guard Zac Ditzel hit a three-pointer off an assist from junior guard Chase Dickens with 2:59 to play to extend the RIT lead to 32-18.
  • Skidmore's Prince Shyllon hit a jumper with 15 seconds remaining to cut the RIT lead to 36-26 at halftime.
  • Aidan Roy hit a three-pointer inside the first two minutes of the second half to cut the RIT lead to 39-33, and Hakeem Daphnis made it a four-point game with his bucket with 17:19 to play in the second half.
  • Joey Skoric capped off Skidmore's 10-3 run with a basket with 17:01 remaining to cut RIT's lead to 39-37.
  • Turner made one-of-two free throws to give RIT a 42-40 lead, but Skoric scored to tie the score at 42-42.
  • Bowen hit a three-pointer on the Tiger's next possession to give RIT a 45-42 lead, but Skoric scored again to make it a one-point game with 14:47 remaining.
  • Bowen drained a three-pointer off an assist from senior guard Keegan Ocorr, and senior Mark Osime converted an old-fashioned three-point play after a steal to increase RIT's lead to 56-48.
  • Skoric converted two free throws to cut RIT's lead to 58-52 with 8:50 to play.
  • Dickens drained his third three-pointer of the game with 7:52 remaining to give RIT a 63-52 lead.
  • Walsh hit a three-pointer to cut the Tiger's lead to 66-62, but Dickens scored with 58 seconds to play to give RIT a 68-62 lead.
  • Walsh hit a three-pointer with five seconds to play to cut RIT's lead to 70-66, but Turner hit a free throw with three seconds remaining to make it a 71-66 final.

  • RIT shot 23-of-61 (37.7%) from the floor, including 11 three pointers.
  • Skidmore held a 45-40 rebounding edge
  • Bowen led RIT with 19 points, Dickens tallied 12 points and Osime finished with 11 points off the bench
