Women's Basketball beats RPI, 69-65

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior Kaitlyn Bockelman scores a career-high 24 points as the women's basketball team beats RPI, 69-65, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bockelman puts the Tigers on the board with a jumper at the 4:50 mark in the first, cutting RPI's early lead to three
  • RPI ended the first quarter on a 8-2 scoring run, taking a 13-4 lead after the first ten minutes of play
  • Bockelman makes a driving layup and is fouled with 2:18 left in the first half, cutting RPI's lead to four
  • First-year guard Emma Rose makes a three-pointer with nine seconds left in the half, RPI takes a 28-20 lead going into halftime
  • The Tigers go on a 17-6 scoring run in the third and obtain their first lead of the game after sophomore guard Ansley Orrell sinks a three-pointer with 3:01 left in the quarter
  • RPI has a 44-41 lead after three quarters of play
  • Senior guard Emma Waite makes a jumper tying the score at 45 with 8:47 left in the game, Bockelman gets fouled on the next possession and makes one free throw, giving the Tigers a one point lead
  • At 3:45, Waite makes one foul shot and extends the Tigers' lead to four
  • RPI takes a 63-60 lead with 1:28 left in the game
  • Bockelman makes a jump shot at 1:16, putting the Tigers within one, followed by a converted and-one on the next possession, giving RIT a 65-63 lead
  • A pair of free throws from first-year guard Ella Wilson and Waite secures a Tigers win
