Men's Basketball holds off Hobart, 77-76

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT junior forward Jackson Otis scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Tigers to a 77-76 win over Hobart, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Hobart's Pat Healy converted an old-fashioned three-point play early in the first half to give the Statesmen a 7-5 lead.
  • Otis and senior forward Kenny Wilburn scored back-to-back buckets to cut the Hobart lead to one, and junior guard Chase Dickens hit a jumper with 16:27 to play in the opening half to give RIT an 8-7 lead.
  • First-year guard Brody Brown capped off an 8-0 RIT spurt with a three-pointer with 1:58 to play in the half to give RIT a 38-33 lead.
  • Junior forward Josiah Turner scored to increase the Tiger's lead to 40-33, while Hobart's Alex Moesch drained a three-pointer with 33 seconds to play to cut the RIT lead to 41-38 at the break.
  • Ryan Lucey scored off an assist from Aidan Rodgers midway through the second half to give Hobart a 66-59 lead.
  • Senior guard Keegan Ocorr hit back-to-back buckets to cut the Statesmen lead to 66-63.
  • Carter Meshanic scored with 2:54 remaining to give Hobart a 74-69 lead.
  • Senior guard Matt Caggiano nailed a three-pointer with 2:19 remaining to cut the deficit to 74-72.
  • Junior guard Brock Bowen made gave RIT the lead on his three-pointer with 54 seconds to play, and increased the lead to 77-74 with a pair of free throws with 12 seconds to play.
  • Rodgers hit two free throws with nine seconds to play to make it a 77-76 final.
 
GAME NOTES
  • RIT shot 28-of-49 (57.1%) from the floor, including eight three-pointers
  • Hobart out-rebounded RIT, 33-31
  • The Tigers scored 36 points in the paint and had 14 points off the bench
  • Ocorr finished with 13 points and five assists, while Bowen tallied 17 points and had five rebounds.
