Men's Basketball beats RPI, 59-57 in OT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior Brock Bowen scored 20 points to lead the Tigers to a 59-57 overtime win against RPI, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Leading 22-20 at halftime, RIT extended its lead to 31-26 on a Bowen three-pointer with early in the second half.
  • He hit another three on RIT's next possession to extend the Tiger's lead to 24-26, while first-year guard Brody Brown hit a three with 11:34 remaining to give RIT a 37-27 lead.
  • RPI's Ben Eugster hit a three-pointer with 9:41 remaining to cut the RIT lead to 37-36 and hit a jumper with 8:00 remaining to give the Engineers a 38-37 lead that capped off a 12-0 RPI run.
  • Jonny Angbazo hit a three-pointer with 6:44 remaining to extend the RPI lead to 43-37.
  • Senior guard Matt Caggiano pulled RIT to withing one on his three-pointer with 3:55 to play.
  • Eugster gave RPI a 48-45 lead on his three-pointer with 2:27 to play, but senior forward Kenny Wilburn tied the game at 48-48 on a free throw with 56 seconds to play in regulation.
  • Caggiano gave the Tigers a 51-48 lead on his three-pointer early in OT.
  • Dylan Matchett gave RPI a 52-51 lead on his layup with 3:05 to play in the extra frame.
  • Caggiano tied the game at 54-54 on his jumper with 1:20 to play, and gave the Tigers a 56-54 lead with a layup with 25 seconds remaining.
  • Bowen made two clutch free throws with 12 seconds to play to give RIT a 58-54 lead., and Caggiano made 1-of-2 free throws with four seconds remaining to make it a five-point lead.
  • Eugster drained a three-pointer with 0.1 seconds remaining to make it a 59-57 final.

  • RIT shot 20-of-55 (36.4%) from the floor, including eight three pointers
  • RPI held a 49-37 rebounding advantage
  • Caggiano finished with 13 points off the bench and had four assists
