Women's Basketball falls to Vassar, 71-52

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior guard Emma Waite led the Tigers with a season-high 20 points as the women's basketball team fell to Vassar, 71-52, Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A three-pointer from Waite tied the game at five with 7:04 left in the first
  • Junior forward Sonya Shivok is fouled on the Tigers' next possession, she made one of two and gave RIT a one point lead
  • Waite closed out the first quarter with two made free throws, putting RIT up 18-17 after the first ten minutes of play
  • Vassar went on a 10-3 scoring run and took a 28-20 lead with 2:18 left in the second
  • First-year guard Ella Wilson made a three to end the second quarter, cutting Vassar's lead to five at the half
  • Sophomore guard Erin DiPaola made a driving layup at the 8:26 mark in the third, cutting Vassar's lead to two points
  • Vassar finished the third quarter on a 21-6 scoring run, taking a 53-36 lead going into the fourth
  • The Brewers outscored the Tigers 18-16, earning a 71-52 victory
 
GAMES NOTES
  • Junior guard Lila McGuiggin had a team-high nine rebounds
  • The Tigers shot 9-for-14 (64.3%) from the free throw line
  • RIT's bench outscored Vassar's bench 18-9
